Very true Ross!
I had never made Dog Biscuits before, I did a lot of test batches.
Well, needless to say that all of the puppies on our street know me,
and get very excite when they see me now
Here's the funny thing: they all listen better to me than their parents :ROFLMAO:
My dogs used to sit in front of the oven waiting for their biscuits. I developed 50+ recipes for a dog rescue group. Needless to say, my dogs were the taste-testers. I had four dogs, so the recipe book was called "Four Paws Up." I remember one time, my Saint and Newf had drool strands on either side all the way to the floor!

I didn't bake today, but I did make Cocoa Hot Fudge sauce.

Made a blackberry pie this morning. Instead of putting on a regular top crust or a lattice, I used my smallish heart-shaped biscuit cutter and made concentric circles of the hearts on top. I really like how it turned out.

I had a coupla Apples that were going soft and figured I'd
make DH's favorite dessert, Apple Pie, well, it's really a Galette,
but …
I also found some Crisco, solid shortening in the pantry. I
really can't remember why I had that, I don't use it … must have been
for a recipe I tried awhiles back and we didn't care for,
anywhos …

The crust was not good at all! Very dry, crumbly and tasteless
DH said it was "okay, but... what did you different?"

Well, I followed the recipe on the Crisco can and made the
Apple filling with a touch more cornstarch to thicken up the
juices more, last time DH said it was too "wet".

Second, I said the most foul word to my husband's ears:
Butter

DH: What's different about the crust then?
Moi: I used Crisco
DH: So? What do you usually use?
Moi: Butter
DH:

:ROFLMAO:

Best Apple Pie1.jpg

I'll go back to this recipe, for sure!
Much better pie, and I don't even like Apple Pie ;)

Do you use one of these pans? If so do you line it with parchment paper?

View attachment 38850

No. I never line my pan with parchment paper. I just use something called Miracle Pan Release to coat the pan. The loaves practically jump off the pan.

Miracle Pan Release was posted by one of our DC members many years ago. It consists of equal parts of lard, vegetable oil and all-purpose flour that is whisked or immersion blender mixed and stored in the refrigerator. I use silicone brushes to spread it on to all my baking pans or whatever needs to be taken care of for food to release.

I had half a recipe of no-knead bread dough in the fridge that was near the end of its storage time, so I made a larger than usual loaf with it. So good [emoji39]

U have a decent recipe on sandwich bread rolls?
Looking for a good one for deli style rolls for sandwiches as well as bagel shop breakfast rolls.
