My son has food allergies. He has to be wheat, gluten, egg and dairy free. He has intolerance to chicken and peanuts. I know he is not deathly allergic to peanuts because he was exposed to them before we know about his allergies.
We are having a hard time trying to find something to feed him. He can have meat and fish just not chicken. I am not completely convinced he is allergic to these things by themselves. For example. Fed him baby food peaches. He broke out horribly. He was miserable. Even his little butt broke out when he passed them. After testing he is not allergic to peaches. We tried just regular canned peaches and he was fine. So whats in the baby food he cant have?? He is on almond and goat milk. we found a few foods he can eat but We would like to find some more foods to give him. He just loves potatoes.

It was probably a preservative of some kind. I would STRONGLY suggest that you contact a nutritionist that deals with food allergies, perhaps speak to his pediatrician to get a referral, rather than taking advice from people on the internet. While some of it may be helpful and knowledgeable, some of it might be a waste of time or even harmful to your child.

There are probably forums for people with severe food allergies as well. However, even on them caveat emptor!

How old is he? You could make your own baby food from vegetables like sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans and peas. Just cook them till they're very soft, then puree them in the food processor or blender. You could also ask your pediatrician for suggestions.

I agree!

Ditto here. Best advice given so far. And ask the nutritionist what credentials they have. There are nutritionists and nutrition specialists. A big difference.

You didn't state how old your child is. If you are introducing new foods to him, do them as a single item. Don't mix them in with other foods. And do try to avoid canned or prepackaged foods. Prepare all his foods from scratch. It might be a bit more costly, but better safe than sorry.

Yes, the first question I ask is how old is he? When my son was little I cooked everything for him from scratch. Not because he was allergic, not because I was into healthy food, I was just being crazy Russian, FOB, and did not believe in baby food. Bought a little food processor, cooked and ground everything. There are a lot of gluten free foods you can get today in a regular store. Rice flour, almond flour, etc. Cook things he can eat, if he is a little baby grind everything. If he can eat meat and fish and veggie, it's all you need. You don to have to feed him noodles or pizza, or omelet.
But do tell us his age, maybe we can help with more recipes.
If you live far away from big grocery stores, look here: Customer Login

P.S. there is dairy free products like Tofutti Brand, Coffee Rich. You can use those to substitute dairy products. Whole foods has a bunch of dairy free cheeses, I'm sorry do not remember the Brand right now, and bunch of coconut yogurts. Kind of have to go and check.

You'd be better off making his food yourself rather than buying factory made baby food. Even if there are no ingredients that disagree with him actually in the jar, the food may be prepared and packed on a line where things that he is allergic to are prepared and packed. Even where the machinery has been clean to hygiene standards there can still be some allergen contamnation (or it might even be residue from the cleaning products that upset him).

Medtran49 has given you good advice about asking your doctor for a referral to a paediatric nutritionist who specialises in allergies. Don't go to a quack who purports to be an allergy "specialist" but who may have dodgy or non-existent "qualifications".

If he is very young and his mother is still breastfeeding him she needs to be aware that if she eats foods that he is allergic to he may ingest them through her milk.

HE is one year old. We have been working with an allergist out of Omaha Ne. Actually they just called this morning the results of his latest tests and turns out he is allergic to goats milk also. That would explain his latest out break. Although minor compared to others he had.
I started a small garden last year just for no good reason just something to do. I am expanding that garden next spring go grow many other veggies for him. I believe it has a lot to do with preservatives and what ever else they put in store bought foods. We raise our own cattle and pigs for meat so we are good there.
We have to use ALL free and clear laundry soap. He can not have any "smellgoods" (scented lotions ect.) A few months ago before we got to the allergist he was so bad he looked like he had scales. Turned out to be a skin infection from the rash and his itching. He suggested putting bleach in the bath water. In about a week of that and changed diet then washing every piece of clothing and bedding with Free and clear laundry soap he was normal.
The allergist we see In Omaha is a Part time professor at UCLA. He has been awsome.
My mother works in the kitchen at a hospital. I will be asking her if she knows a nutritionist that can help us. Thanks so much for your advice.
Here is pic of Jasper with his big brother Zane.

What cuties! Hopefully your little guy will grow out of his allergies. What a limitation. Good luck with the nutritionist.

you are better of than many people having your own farm you can get a lot of things that are totally out of reach fro the rest of us. One year old he should be able to eat everything by himself. All you have to is to provide what he can eat. It is hard, but doable. You can get a small mill, that grinds grain and make breads, noodles, etc using grain he can have.

Good luck.

My niece is now 13 and started life with many of the same allergies as your son. My brother and his wife worked with their allergist who had a nutritionist on his staff. She had an extremely limited diet. She is still small for her age but has grown out of some of her allergies. It will be difficult in the beginning but you will get used to what he can eat. Expect to take food with you everywhere! They would always pack her meal at home and bring it with them so they were sure she could eat.

They did find that preservatives in food were one thing that set her off so they used a lot of fresh food. Boar's head meats are preservative-free.

Good luck. I know you will be able to provide a good diet eventually.

Its been a over a year since I commented on here. Life got busy with the little ones and now I have a grand daughter. He is 2 now and allergies have not changed much. The garden was a big help. Its going to get bigger next year. Found out he hates green beans. Figures one of the few things he is not allergic to he will not touch. Taters didnt do as well as expected but I kinda cheated and planted potatoes out of the bag instead of getting seed potatoes.

Good luck to you and your garden exploits. Do a little research on companion gardening. It will allow you to grow more, and healthier crops in less space.
