Cooking mitts...

Actually, I did check them out, pst1, and they looked like a fantastic product. To be honest, I have not explored their availability, nor their price structure. But they seem like a much better alternative, to me, than silicone products. I can only imagine the safety improvements in restaurants that employ their use.
 
anyone else ever get an "Ove GLove" .. works really well and very flexible. However, you cannot hold a burning hot pan forever with one, but with what mit can you?
 
I've always been in the habit or tossing a kitchen towel over my shoulder when I cook (like Emeril does, although I was doing it before I ever heard of him), so that sort of becomes my all purpose hotpad, oven mitt, bowl stabilizer, etc., etc. I'll generally go through 3 or 4 of these while preparing a full meal... I just toss them in the washing machine when they get too soiled or wet to keep using. I occasionally use a mitt when I grill, but long handled tools makes that only a rare necessity too.
