What is your favorite cooking show?:ermm:

There are a large variety of them out there. The Food Network tops the list, I think, followed by PBS and a few scattered about on other regular & cable channels.:)

Emeril Live is one of mine, followed by 30-Minute Meals, Semi Homemade Cooking, Sara's Secrets, Paula's Home Cooking, Iron Chef and Iron Chef America.:chef:

I also like Emeril Lagasse, Julia Child, Burt Wolf, Ming Tsai, Mario Batali, Sam Choy, Bobby Flay, and others. I think Tsai & Choy are my favorites with their great authentic Asian & Hawwian cuisine!:chef:

Paula Dean is the Queen of Southern cooking, IMO!:chef:

Mine is definitely Good Eats with Alton Brown. I love to learn the science of foods.

How abou t a follow up of your favorite non-cooking show. Mine would be Nip-Tuck followed very closely by Boston Legal.

i love all of the shows on pbs. i cannot stand some of them on foodtv anymore (i won't bother to list the negatives), but i will still watch alton, giada, and iron chef (japanese, not american). i mean, i'll watch the other ones occasionally, but with the sound turned down.

here's a copy of a list that i posted once of the shows on pbs, and their associated websites. i'm not sure if all of the links still work.

Nowadays I watch all the stuff on GamberoRosso (Italian Cooking network), but from the shows that can be recognised outside Italy, my favourites were the Naked Chef by Jamie Oliver and Ready Steady Cook. Also when I was a kid I loved Galloping Gourmet!!

I love East Meets West, but Ming has left the Food Network. He now does Simlpy Ming on PBS. Haven't seen it yet.

Rachael Ray's 30 minute meals
Paula Deen's Southern Cooking

i also used to like to watch Chef George Hirsh on p.b.s way back when. he made everything on a grill, even cakes !
i also used to watch an amish cooking show on p.b.s too a long time ago. can't remember the woman's name who was on it though.

I love almost all of the Food Network shows.

My favorites are Rachel Ray's 30 Minute Meals and $40 a day (but she kind of annoys me so I have to take her in small doses), Paula Deen, Emeril, Alton Brown's show (I forgot the name), Iron Chef America, and Food 911 (I have a crush on Tyler).

I also like that one where Gordon Elliot goes into people's houses and cooks whatever they have in the fridge...but I am not sure if its on anymore.

Sorry, but none of the American series or chefs have appeared over here, I suppose the different way of measuring and cooking may have something to do with it - OR we have lots of our own, excellent chefs?!!! These do not all currently have shows on TV, but a number of their shows are being repeated ad infinitum on one or other cable/satellite channel!:)

Jamie Oliver
Nigella Lawson
Gordon Rankin
Delia Smith
Gary Rhodes
Antonio Carluccio
Jean-Christoph Novelli
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall
Nigel Slater
Anton Mossiman
Nick Nairn (my personal fave)

I don't watch cooking shows, so, I never answered this thread. BUT, last night, dh found a show that he was trying to tell me about a month or so ago and it kinda went in one ear and out the other. LOL I was on the computer as usual. Well, I love Lisence to Grill. Rob Rainford can make you salivate even when your full!! Yummy!!!! DH has to get the grill fired up now. LOL

I'd have to say Essence of Emeril, Emeril Live, followed by Paula's Home Cooking, Everyday Italian, 30-Minute Meals, Simply Ming, Good Eats and Unwrapped.

I like "Good Eats". It has already been pointed out that not all of Alton Brown's recipes are the best, but it's nice to know the hows/whys of why things work (or don't).

I enjoy most food shows. Even if they aren't among my 'favorites', I will go to food shows on Food Network or PBS as my back-up 'background noise' viewing.

I forgot about that one, but only certain episodes of it I like, like yourself.

And BTW, if anyone is interested, some of these show ARE available on DVDs at Target! I saw on display Good Eats, Paula's Home Cooking, 30-Minute Meals, Everyday Italian and Boy Meets Grill.

I like most of the ones on the Food network -- Tyler, Dave, Rachael, Paula, Giada, Ina, Alton, Guy's Big Bite, Ellie to name a few and several on PBS -- Daisy, Ming, America's Test Kitchen, Caprial and John, Everyday Food, one I can't remember the name but it's a chinese Mother and daughter and more. Also enjoy a few on the travel channel - Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations for one, and Dutch Oven, Campfire Cooking, and California Country on Rural TV

I wish I had one- I refuse to pay for cable when I would only watch 3 of the gazillion channels I would be paying for... hahaha. Wait, that's for the venting thread. Therefore, my fav cooking channel is my computer screen and all you on Discuss Cooking!

Edit: and thank you Bucky for mentioning PBS for us anti-cable people! I was afraid of the mockery I would hear! hahaha!
