I'm working on posting a bunch of pics from my recent Alaskan road trip with Unity. I came across this pic and couldn't wait to post it. It was taken in McCarthy, Alaska, a town of a couple dozen people in the winter and around 200 in the summer. It's at the end of a 90 mile gravel road. For years there has been a lot of friction between the locals and the Feds, mainly the Nat. Park Service. McCarthy is an inholding of private property in our largest national park, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Here's how the locals decorated Smokey the Bear. Who knew Smokey was a girl?
