I think I paid $24 at BB&B for my Microplane box grater. I couldn't live without it. I also have a file type Microplane zester/grater and a wider and shorter one that is even easier to use for zesting, and is perfect for grating fresh parmesano reggiano.

I am not lucky enough to have a Microplane, I still have the 4 sided version and the zester part does get clogged easily. I have a travel toothbrush with plastic case that I keep for this. I find when I am done zesting there isn't much in the pan, but then I take the brush out and use and suddenly there it all is! LOL.
One question I had, when do you stop zesting? I stop once I start to see white, is that too soon or just right?
