Perhaps you just didn't have enough water to steam them with?

Sweet potatoes, like white potatoes can change colour when exposed to air.

I use my pressure cooker ! Skin on. The skin falls off after they are done, 15 mins.

I microwave them, stabbed first, 8 minutes, then I throw them in cold water until I can handle them and take the skin off.

No, the idea of steaming is that they are not submerged in water. But enough water to create the hot steam which is what will cook them. Were they dried out when you finished them?

If that were to happen to me, my judgement would be to cut into one of the spots and see if it is just a surface thing or deep.

Were it deep, I would not eat it;

a surface thing and the texture still pretty much the same, cut around it (if big enough) or just mash it up and eat.

But all of the above are just my thoughts, I could perhaps completely change my mind once looking at them.

So what did you do? Cut around and eat? or just chuck them.

Just chucked them. Do you think boiling might work better than steaming. I like roasted coins but also like the softer coins.

I've never steamed them. Either halved or large cube/wedges roasted. Baked whole (in skin). Or microwaved. Or boiled.
