Anyone who knows me knows I'm not an eBay fan ... I detest the place .... but sometimes you can find a good deal there that you can't find anywhere else. Actually, the only thing I've ever bough eBay was a book - THIS book!

The Curious Cook (by Harold McGee) is a sequal to On Food and Cooking written by Harold McGee. It's somewhat more limited in scope, and you really have to love science to fully appreciate it .... but for no more than it's $16 cover price it's a great read. Since it's now out of print, with no prospects of a reprint in the near future, and since Alton Brown has made McGee famous (where do you think he gets the majority of his "scientific" information?), it's going for premium prices on Amazon (I just checked and it's going for $68.95 - $185! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/offer-listing/0865474524/qid=1121387262/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_ur_1a//002-2306482-7316000?condition=all).

There are 2 copies on eBay that right now are only bid at $3. http://search.ebay.com/the-curious-cook_Books_W0QQsofocusZbsQQsbrftogZ1QQfromZR10QQsacatZ267QQcatrefZC6QQsargnZ-1QQsaslcZ2QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQfsopZ1QQfsooZ1

Anyway - just thought I would pass this info on to the other "Curious Cooks".
