My wife bought a picnic butt, almost by accident. We haven't done one of these before, so I read you do them just like boston butt's (the most likely kind at Sam's, the picnic came from Aldi's)
it worked just about the same, I had it on for 12 hrs, it came up to 195, and I had to leave for several hrs, so I took it off , foiled it, and let it rest. I pulled it and sauced it later.
package label
out of the package it looks different, with a bigger bone, and a big exposed fat cap, came right off though
after about 12 hrs on the Traeger at 225
ready for foil
see the different bones than butt
pulled ready for sauce, which we usually do later as we like different sauces (we put a little on to keep it moist)
do any other wives think it is weird we take pictures of what we cook??
