I'd use it even opened as long it has been continuously refrigerated since it was opened, and does not look or smell odd.
If it kills you, quit using it!
I always put my own month and year on every product I purchase, e.g. today is 217 or 0217. I'm amazed at the age of some of my refrigerator's condiments.
I do it with spices too. There again, I should be throwing birthday parties, maybe even graduation parties for some of my spices.
Spices weaken with age. When I'm frugal I just use more. Like my hot paprika, it's not hot any more. I use it like regular paprika.
But of course for best results never use old spices.
