Just look at that prime rib. No, I won't be cooking $50 worth of prime rib tonight, I just stopped in for ground beef. Perhaps for Easter.

First of all, why are you taking pictures of meat in the grocery store case?:ermm: And second, why am I looking at it? To fracture a movie line: You had me at porn!:ROFLMAO:

Is that Optimus Prime Rib from Transformers?

Ok, now I'm thinking about Megan Fox and huge chunks of beef. It's gonna be a long day.

What I think is the most amazing aspect of the picture is that a prime rib roast is selling for $8.99 per pound. Prime grade meats are usually more expensive.

That's what I'd pay for a choice grade roast.

Thats not a sale price, Andy M., thats been the price since before Christmas. There is a large supermarket just up the street. Their prices are generally higher than Reams. Their Grand Champion Bratwurst, which has won about every award there is, is often $1.99 a pound. Compared to $5 a pound for Johnsonville. If you're in the Chicago area, I highly suggest a trip to Reams.

I've always thought Johnsonville was over rated. I too have a fine butcher that seems to have excellent bargain prices. Mine is on Cicero and Wellington (near Belmont) in Chicago. Midwest gets good meat baby!!!

Thats no grocery store meat counter. Thats the legendary Reams Elburn Meat Market.
Welcome to our website I'm fortunate to live a few blocks away, people drive 50 miles to go there. I knew all you people would appreciate a fine piece of beef like that.
Ah, didn't recognize it as such because our local butcher Stearns Meats doesn't have a meat case. They do have a small case with cryovac items such as marinated raw meats or prepared meats, but if you want fresh meat they cut it right in front of you on the steel tables. Want steak? They go into the cooler (since the "store" itself is about 50 degrees I certainly feel cool enough) to grab the hanging piece, then cut it right there to size. Smoke their own hams and pork chops, too, and cut them to whatever thickness you want. Seriously good meats!

I couldn't find a price ANYWHERE on the site! It started out being weird/funny but quickly got frustrating. There has to be some secret. Is it a collective? Where you buy in and then get the meat from a larger purchase and reap the benefits of the better prices available in large quantities.
