Oh, those Southern cooks!

Pronounce it PUH-can, PUH-con - but a PEE-CAN is what a truck driver has under his seat.

This is new to me, Michael. I don't believe I've ever heard it pronounced PUH-can. Around here (Virginia) they say PEE-can. I guess only effete pasty-faced Yankees say puh-CAHN.

LOL - yeah cat .... Virginia has gotten "Yankeefied" - ever since Lincoln decided to make Mrs. Lee's rose garden into a cemetary.

It doesn't bother me .. call it a pee-can if you want ... I, and a lot of southern folks, will laugh because we know a pee-can is what the Yankee folk used to call a "chamber pot". They had ceramic pots - we had old coffee cans. Thus - pee-CAN.

I have always heard Southern Fried Chicken is the best and I have tried many recipes, eaten the 'best fried chicken' in any number of fine dining places, coffee shops, diners, and greasy spoons. Can anyone really define the true Southern Fried Chicken, the finger lickin good kind......
