I cooked and reheated a brisket cater for 300 using a Bradford Pear which the neighbor kindly let split in two and land on Fredericka the world famous wannabe roach coach. Caused a lot of damage. Broke off my bug shield radio aerial etc. Figgered the least I could do was try to get my money back on it. It twasnt unpleasant. Pear Pear is Ok too. I used to have a big one of them in my backyard so I know how them burn too Now I would not go outta the way to find some..but like it free or something that be a good time to snag some. Since you already got it would sure use it on anything. If you got other flavors throw that in there with it occasionally or even vice versa.
Found a sheet from http://www.800drywood.com (very pricey place for wood but lots of info) that says "Pear wood - slightly sweet, woodsy flavor - good for poultry, game birds and pork.
