Pepper encrusted round tip roast - how?

Hi,

I'd like to to encrust the roast in peppercorns somehow, and then roast it. What are some typical ways to do this?

Wouldn't you just lightly crush your peppercorns, mix with any other herbs/(dry) seasonings you wish to add, spread over a cutting board, and after smearing oil over your roast, roll the roast in the peppercorn mix, pressing the mix into the sides of the meat. Personally I would then sear the roast in a frying pan before putting it into the pre-heated oven, and then just cook as per normal for a roast.
