Have any of you Frozen Stuffed Cabbage uncooked and have any of you Frozen the Stuffed Cabbage cooked ? When removed from the Freezer how did you prepare them to serve ?
I freeze them cooked. What I do is let them cool, put them in plastic dishes I saved from mico-meals, vacuum-seal them and freeze. To prepare I let them defrost, take them out of the bag and dish, put them in a baking dish with more sauce and bake. You can also just take them out of the bag and reheat in the microwave if you are in a hurry.
No problem freezing them, though I do not guarantee that cabbage will taste particularly great afterwards. Though for me personally cabbage never tastes great so no big loss. I'd defrost before cooking though.
+1 Freezing uncooked veggies destroys the cell wall membrane causing the thawed veggie to turn mushy. Cook the eggies and the sell walls are softened so that freezing doesn't degrade the quality of the thawed product. I suspect that the frozen veggies you purchase in a store have been blanched, or pre-cooked prior to freezing.
