I have several favorites for opening TV theme song.

Masters of Sex

The show is about Virginia Johnson and Bill Masters work in the 50s/60s around ob/gyn but leading into their revolutionary book on sexual theory. It also dealt with the issues of the times such as civil rights. The opening music is great and I love watching the imagery (flower opening, key in the lock, champagne bottle opening, etc). I thought the show was very good and it gave me a feel for what it was like in the late 50s/early 60s.

Boardwalk Empire

The music is great including the HBO opening. I love the images of the ocean, Nucky Thompson standing there, the waves splashing, the bootlegger bottles in the water. I very much enjoyed the whole series. I’m a sucker for period dramas.

The Sopranos

I’m not as fond of the music but I love looking at the different scenes of Tony Soprano driving out of the Lincoln Tunnel, onto the NJ turnpike, past the refineries and finally pulling into his driveway. I grew up in NJ so I recognize many of the places in the clip. Great TV series that is responsible for the quality TV dramas we have today.

Mission Impossible

This was my favorite show as a child. Catchy music and great montage of scenes from the show.

I never watched Hawaii 5-0 or Bonanza growing up. Are they still worth watching today? There is too much already on my to watch list.

I am a big 5-0 fan also of the show and the music. I don't remember too much about the original, but the new show has more warmth to it, IMHO. I will really miss it. I can't believe the Fri. night line up will be gone soon. I really miss Magnum PI.

Another one of our favorite is the theme song from "The Ranch". We love to sing along with it.

Gioachino Rossini...

When first married in 1959, our first big purchase was from Sears/Roebuck..
It was a sleek cabinet Hi Fi record player..
Our records were mostly jazz and we wanted to hear what "Hi Fi" really sounded like so we bought a copy of the William Tell Overture.. Wish I remember who recorded it..

We played that loudly.. Looking back, I know I must have irritated some neighbors.. ;)

I like the new show. I just couldn't stand Jack Lord. JMHO

I watched maybe half of the first New Version Hawaii 5-0 show,
just could take it!
The original 5-0 with Jack Lord was no better, to me!
But Jack Lord as a person was a very nice man, he was one of my patients … I worked for a dentist for a few years in Kahala. Actually, we had many "celebrates" come to that practice, not sure why, but …
