Coffee. But at least that's not as bad as my cousin who doesn't like bacon or shrimp, or my best friend who doesn't like hot dogs or my mother who seemed to not like anything.

It's good to see you too, dragnlaw! Gardening has been a pain this year. What would take a normal person a couple of hours takes me weeks with my back. Hopefully by the time summer is over, I'll have most of it done and I can be here a little more often.

No, no coffee ice cream, thank you anyway. You know, I love the smell of coffee. The taste is just too bitter for me, though.

i wish i had found this thread sooner , i find it very interesting ,
the comments about not liking coffee fascinates me
i'm pretty sure my mon and dad had me drinking black coffee before i could walk as i have no memory of not drinking black coffee even as a very small child
i think how coffee is made has a lot to do with many people not liking it
pot not clean = bad coffee ,
to strong = bad coffee
to weak = bad coffee
water not hot enough = bad coffee
certain blends = bad coffee

The first time I ever drank coffee was in my teens. I remember the day. My mom and I were out shopping and we stopped into Wendy's for some lunch. She ordered coffee (she always drank it black) and they accidentally put two coffees on our tray, since we were eating in. When she pointed out she had only ordered one coffee, they said she could keep it at no charge, if she wanted it. She kept it and we got our food and went to sit down. Now, as a kid growing up, I always loved the smell of coffee, so I grabbed the extra one, saying I wanted to taste it. It was awful, LOL. I asked my mom how she was able to drink the stuff and she said to try it with some cream and sugar, since some people drank it that way.

So I went and got cream and sugar for the coffee. I put it in and hey, that wasn't too bad. After that, I never did become a regular coffee drinker, but I had it once in a while with the cream and sugar. Then I discovered those International Delight coffees. Wow, loved them. My favorite was the Suisse Mocha (pic attached). I was an International Delight coffee addict through my late teens and into my early 20's. Then I just sort of fell off the coffee wagon and didn't pick it up again until just about 10 years ago. But it has to be flavored coffee (other pic attached showing some of the coffees I buy) and I use coffee creamer all the time, since I am still unable to drink it black. My favorite flavor is French Vanilla, but I also love (Kroger brand) Sweet Italian Creme and White Chocolate Mocha. And I loooooooove it iced. Every morning on my way to work I have to take my iced coffee with me. I don't care if it's 10 degrees outside. I still drink my coffee iced 90% of the time in my favorite glass cups (also pictured).

And there's my coffee story :geek: :coffee:

Don't remember exactly when, why I started, but it my mid teens? lots of cream and sugar. Somehow I slowly started adding less and less sugar, by my late teens my father watched me and asked why I bothered putting in the 3 grains of sugar. Never looked back. I also only have 2% milk, no cream (cream tastes like cardboard). I do like an occasional mocha or iced coffee in the summer (yeah, those are sweet ).
I dabbled with those flavoured ones pictured by Linda when they first came out but not for long.
I also only liked instant coffee for years! Then slowly turned to brewed. Every once in a while I still like an instant coffee. Having them at my bro's when I visit is enough satisfaction for me.

I don't remember starting to drink coffee, but I must have been 18 or 19. At first I drank it with cream and sugar. I also drank tea with sugar, but with milk instead of cream. I had liked it that way as a kid, but even as a young adult, I quickly dropped the sugar as I started to drink it regularly. At some point someone asked why I put sugar in my coffee when I didn't put it in my tea and I weaned myself off the sugar in my coffee. Now, I drink mostly variations on espresso: café au lait, espresso allongé (lungo in Italian, long in English). I drink the long espressos with cream, unless there isn't any, in which case whole milk is fine and 2% is acceptable. Any less milk fat than 2% and I would rather drink it black, possibly with a smidgen of maple syrup or honey. My sister loves the smell of coffee, but doesn't like the flavour of coffee.

I'm that way with tea. Tea always smells good to me, but I can't stand the taste. I've even tried iced tea, both sweetened and unsweetened, and I just can't do it.

Indian food. Everyone seems to like Indian foods, especially curries. My tastebuds just never got the memo. Something about the spices they use just tweaks me in a bad way. I wonder if it is like cilantro, and people with certain genes react badly to some chemical in the spices. Cilantro tastes like soap to me, and there is a genetic reason for it.

I have a similar problem with Japanese flavors, but I rather like Korean (except kimchi). I love getting a group of people together for Korean BBQ. I like the food, and the experience.

I used to detest curry powder. We eventually figured out which ingredient it was. It was the fenugreek. But, it was actually only with stale fenugreek. The smell I notice is very distinctive. I recognize it immediately. It smells like a biology project that one of the other students was doing in an honors radiation biology summer class. She unintentionally burnt her sample. That was the exact smell I would get from stale fenugreek. I don't notice that in curry powder anymore. I think that maybe it doesn't sit on the shelf in the grocery store as long nowadays.

You just mirrored me completely.

I can't stand Indian food. Have tried it several times. Can't do it. And I can't stand curry anything.

Not crazy about Japanese food, but I rather enjoy the Korean BBQ place, when we get a chance (and the money) to visit. But the kimchi? Keep it away from me, please.

The Korean place I've been to has the most wonderful seafood pancake. It's this big huge pancake filled with seafood and scallions that you cut into slices and it's one of the most amazing things I've ever eaten.

I drink my coffee black, no sugar.
And I like curry :)

I dislike mayonaisse, liver and raw cheese (unmelted). It's a texture thing as I like liver paté, pizza and toasted sandwiches

I love liver. Didn't used to, as a kid and young adult, but it's become an acquired taste over the years.

One of the funniest lines in one of the funniest movies... Airplane. Hope you can see it.

Adding to my list is anything with seaweed in it. There are somethings, like coffee, where I can see why people like it, I just dont. But the smell ( let alone the taste) of sea weed makes me nauseous.
