I think DIY can be a hobby, if it's something a person looks forward to doing, rather than just looking forward to the results.

I also like to go on solo, overnight, backpacking campouts with my bridge hammock to local trail camps. I love backpacking gear as well, but I'm not obsessed with counting grams like some people are. I do these overnighters about once a month on average to get away from people. I love the solitude, peace, and quiet.
