With my New Year's resolution to cook more (i bake like a fiend, cooking not as much), I've been making dinner in the crockpot (ideal with a 3 yr old....also I'm starting some part time work so I won't be home as much during the day to prepare for dinner). Anyway, we have a 4 qt round rival that works fine, but I was looking into getting a 6 qt oval one......better shape, esp for roasts and such. Anyway, I've done a lot of research and like what I've read about the West Bend Versatility cooker. Unlike traditional slow cookers/crock pots, this one has an aluminum vessel that sits on top of the heating element. One advantage is that you can use the vessel to brown meats w/o dirtying another pot/pan. It got very good reviews (by customers) on Amazon and by the folks at Cook's Illustrated, but was jus wondering if anyone here had it and could offer any insight.

Thanks.
