Can I Freeze Green Peanuts??

I was given a large amount of green peanuts. Do they freeze OK? Should I boil them first?

JGDean.......

Boil first (in salt water) then freeze in boxes or bags. Let them thaw naturally. Not in the microwave, oven etc.

Thanks, Uncle Bob. I'm an import to Florida. West Virginians aren't known to eat boiled peanuts. I have some boiling outside with crab boil and salt and indoors with just salt.

We have frozen green peanuts raw with no ill effects.

You can roast the green peanuts or boil them. Be sure to use a LOT of salt for boiling.

The way that we do them is just put the green peanuts in the freezer and when you want to cook them get out what you want and boil them. You do not have to thaw them out first. Just as good as when you get them fresh. We know some peanut farmers and this is what we were told to do.
