When I was a teenager we used to go to an old bakery in Gananoque, Ontario to get a supply of butter tarts but they rarely survived the trip home.
Sometime try swapping the corn syrup for pure maple syrup.

No rum. Although it sounds good. And, yes, butter tarts are considered Canadian, for sure. I grew up in Ontario , so I don’t want to give all of the credit to the Quebecois either. Lol!
