I don't make it anymore, but when I did, I used peach brandy. I wouldn't turn down the whisky though.

bummer!! no one in my family will eat fruit cake. not even homemade. i like it but can't eat a whole one. sometimes i buy just for me, a little fresh one from store bakery.

I'll bet peach brandy is great on it! My mom made really good fruitcake, but I can't find her recipe. She made a dark one, which she used whiskey on, and a light one that was alcohol free. They were both very good! If I ever find her recipes I will definitely try peach brandy!
