Type A spice storage??

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that enjoys cooking.

I do mine alphabetically. If the name is part of the spice (e.g. Red Pepper Flakes in your example), it would go under 'R'. If the name is not part of it (e.g. Crushed mint) it goes under 'M'. And then I store some on top of my spice rack because I ran out of room.

But after a few times you remember that Red Pepper Flakes is 'R', etc., no?

Interesting. I took the opposite approach. All peppers are in the "P"s. Cayenne, red pepper flakes, paprika, etc. Whatever works, right?

My spice cupboard is a total and confounding mess..It's like you stood about six feet away and threw everything in the cupboard...becasue, that is basically what I do. :p.I have a good idea where everything is, but most times I have to take out about 10 bottles, packets, jars, before I find what I am looking for..It's a great system and I wouldn't change it for the world

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that has their spice cabinet organized in that manner. It's worked well for me for over 50 yrs, why stop now?

Good timing for this thread. We just installed these today. They seem fantastic

Very nice! Do they pull out? How many spice jars will they hold?

They’re on a sliding rail and do pull out. I bought the 222x2x11 and 22x2x11 from Vertical Spice and installed them right next to each other. They fit 5 jars deep which gives me 50 spots. Right now I only have ~35 different spices so there’s room for me to grow.

I would definitely recommend these. They’re very well thought out and fit perfectly in my cabinet.
