Didn't World War II get started on this day in 1941? Did it last till 1945 or longer?
WWII began in September 1939.
Some Americans mistakenly believe that WWII started when the United States was attacked by Japan on December 7, 1941.
On the bright side, the hardships of the War's aftermath introduced SPAM to kitchens throughout the World...
Clearly, the hostilities that became WWII started before 12/7/41.
When the war was appropriately categorized as a World War is a different date. Perhaps it became a world war when Japan and the US became part of the picture. At that point, hostilities were no longer confined to Europe but expanded to include North America and Asia as well.
Were the Canadians independent of the Brits in 1939?It was a global concern by September 10, 1939. Canada, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa were all involved by that point.
