Finally got my hands on some PC Bacon Marmalade. I was a little disappointed. I was hoping for something a bit more complex. It really had no depth in flavor. All that I could taste was sugar and that simulated smokey flavor. Not much else. I tried it with old cheddar on crackers. Maybe I will use it to glaze something.
I got some of this in the 50% off bin a few weaks (and yes, that would a moment of weakness a few weeks) ago. I haven't opened it, yet.

:chef: TAAAAAAA DAAAAAAAAAAA......... announcing BACON JAM !!
How's come WE didn't think of it??

This would make great Christmas gifts, but I wonder who could give it away??

Imagine having this delectable sweet salty spread for your morning toast!!!!!!

Sigh.........

check it out:

Bacon Jam Recipe
I always thought I was fairly adventurous with food but bacon jam? Despite the fact that over here we serve apple sauce with roast pork (which a Spanish friend finds really bizarre), my mind boggles.
(Wanders off, shaking head )

I'm with you on this one. I once had chocolate chip cookies with bacon. Not terrible, but a waste of perfectly good bacon and chocolate chips.

I had a look at that recipe. This is enough to convince me that I won't make it to try it, "Simmer over low heat, stirring every now and then to prevent sticking, for 3-4 hours or until it has a thick, jam-like consistency and a deep, rich brown color."

3-4 hours! Not unless it is something I know I love.

Sounds like a perfect use for the slow cooker.

Thanks for bringing up this very old thread, I had almost forgotten about it and it brought back some great memories. When bacon goes on sale again I'll be making more. Thanks for paving the way to bliss, Dawg!

Aww, thanks, you started the thread, Kayelle! It really is a nice recipe, and so easy, why pay $20 for something that's so simple?

Well, I've already seen it.

I wonder how many people realized that your new user pic is actually you. ;)

I couldn't tell what it was, it's a tiny quarter-inch purple square on the iPad. I figured it was either one of the girls with a dye job, or a bouquet of flowers

New regs about natural looking hair colors and covering tattoos. While the little olds I take care of have blue hair...
I understand about tattoos, but hair colour? All my grandma's friends had blue hair...except one, she had lovely lavender rinse in hers. I probably would do the same if my hair were white instead of blond. Since I almost always wear purple on top, it made since to go bold. Of course, there is no "blond with purple" highlights choice on hair colour re: driver's license and health card...."other?"

Here's another (?) bacon jam recipe.
