I've just bought a french press and the only thing I dislike is the impossible-to-avoid bits of grounds/soot at the bottom of the cup. From my experience with drip makers, paper filters allow less to pass through than mesh metal filters. So I was thinking if I could find a paper filter for my press it would be perfect. Do these exist and/or where might I find them?

French presses are by design meant to be unfiltered. That's the whole point of them. You might be able to filter the coffee after you make it, though.

Like Jenny said, you can make your coffee and then filter it after the fact. To me, that would be a pain though. The best thing to do, IMO, is to learn to just not drink the last sip or two.
