Graham cracker crust from scratch...without graham crackers?

I really prefer a graham cracker crust with certain kinds of pies but I can seldom find graham crackers here in China. Does anyone have a recipe that will give me a similar tasting crust but made from primary ingredients like flour, sugar, brown sugar, etc?

Graham flour is just a coarse type of all-purpose flour, so regular AP should work.

If you have access to American style cookies like Ginger Snaps, Vanilla Wafers, Coconut bars even sandwich cookies like Oreos this recipe should work for you and it's less work than starting from scratch.

I think graham flour is coarse whole wheat flour.

See if you can find "Digestive Biscuits" in your local stores. They're made in England, and many people who can't find graham crackers use them as a substitute.

Graham flour is separated into endosperm and bran and germ. The endosperm is ground finely and the bran and germ are ground coarsely, and then it's mixed back together.

I'm not sure but judging by American cooks demo-ing on television, digestive biscuits may be sweeter than graham crackers so you may need to adjust the sugar
