That is something you can adjust. I don't know exactly how to do it, but someone here will. Is your mixer a tilt head, or a bowl lift?
I've started doing a little baking in the last few weeks and I'm looking to take the effort away by getting a mixer but not sure whether I should get a hand mixer or a stand mixer. What do you use and what would your reasons be for choosing that particular one?
I got out my manual and read... then adjusted my own mixer. Not too hard
Does your new mixer have the tilt head? I have the older one and the head does not tilt. Most of the time it's ok but at times I'd like to kick the thing out the door. This thread (and the fact that I have been making bread regularly) made me go out and order a new KA stand mixer. Should be here today!
I almost feel like a kid at Christmas.

I have a KA and it really does a wonderful job with dough.Enjoy your new treasure.I got the Pro 600 which is the bowl lift type. I hope it is strong enough for my bread dough.
The funny part is this will be a tiny one compared to the last time I used a stand mixer. Those were the big Hobart floor type.
