I took Mom shopping for new Winter House Slippers
and then to lunch at one of my favorite spots.

Mom ordered a 1/2 sandwich (Chicken Salad on Nine Grain bread)
and 1/2 bowl of Soup (White Bean Chili), but was more like soup
than Chili - tasty!

I had 1/2 Salad (Southwest Superfood)
and 1/2 sandwich (can't see it well, I took a poor photo-but it's Steak & Gorgonzola on Sourdough bread)
Oh, and not in the shot is a glass of White Wine for Moi ;)

So Mom and I are still full from our late lunch, but I will be making as planned Chef John's Sloppy Joe recipe,
served for DH on a Brioche Rolls, toasted, with slice Hot Cherry Pepper and Potato chips.

I tried a new-to-me Danish recipe for "Vintergryde", which means "winter pot". It's not a lot of effort and has definite potential. It has a very stick-to-your-ribs, comfort food type of feel to it. I will be making tweaks. It was hard not to do that this time, but I wanted to try the recipe as written, the first try. I made it one of my Danish pots, an enamelled, cast iron braiser.

I made Pork Chops and Rice (& peas). It is a recipe I found in a magazine back in the '70's. Meal in one pan, easy to make, easy to clean up. Mikey said it is his very favorite meal. I said, yep, until tomorrow when I make something else. ;)
