That´s absolutely correct.
However, I´ve eaten many other Middle Eastern "dips", made with broad beans, or zucchini, or beans & yoghurt, which would be perfectly good substitutes.

some places in israel will make it creamy and you don't notice the chickpeas very much.
when i say creamy i mean that it has a high fat content because of the added tahini and manybe even added oil....


it is interesting why it is called tahini in english....
in israel it's tahina and i think in arabic it's between tahini and tahina (but pronounced a bit different)
