I know that is should be stored in an airtight container and also away from light, but I am also wondering if, like other things, it should be kept away from heat. My guess is that it should be stored in a cool place.

With that in mind, here is my question. Is the freezer too cold of a place to keep loose leaf tea? I have some airtight containers that hold about 2 or 3 oz. of leaves, but I want to buy 6oz. or so. Can I keep what does not fit in the containers in the freezer like I do with my spices or and I better off keeping it in a cabinet downstairs in the cool dark?

I would go with cool dark rather than the freezer. Unless you really don't use it that fast, it should be fine. Even air tight bags bein to show crystals in the freezer and that means usually some oils or moisture from the product is being drawn out.

Thanks Robo! That is what I was afraid would happen. I will stick with the cupboard downstairs then :)
