Not sure if it still applies but about 20 years ago I read that in UK it's illegal for a (human) doctor to treat an animal but perfectly OK for a vet to treat a human. Odd. Also, if you go to the pharmacy to buy something over the counter, such as cough mixture or nappy cream for your horse's cough or sore skin, you must never tell them that it's for an animal because they aren't allowed to sell human products for animal use.
