I have 15 pairs of Birkenstocks...they work for me. I was on my feet from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. tonight in the kitchen. I wore my kitchen shoes today. I'm tired, but my calves and feet aren't aching like they were last night. It depends on your foot--I have narrow feet, high arch, and narrow heel. I had ordered a different pair, but they didn't work for me. I like these because of the thickness of the sole. I used to be able to wear them for 5-6 hours without the insoles, but 8-12 hours, no, I needed to add the insoles. The shoes are pricey, but my mom taught me that if when you put the shoe on it is uncomfortable, don't buy it. I've had mine for +10 years. I think they were a good investment.
