Starting 14 day sweet pickles

I'm starting 14 day sweet pickles using the recipe from the USDA guide to home canning. Ive done lots of canning but I'm still a little nervous. Ive decided to document the whole ordeal on my website for fun. Any suggestions for stuff to watch out for? Today is Day 1.
