Sticker Shock - cost of living etc.

I just got a grocery order with some store brand butter, which was on sale for
CAD 5.44 for 454 grams, regular price CAD 6.49. The price on special is about USD 4.01.

Today in one of our cheaper box stores but was 6.99 for the house brand, 7,99 for Brand name - the those specialty ones were 8 something - didn't even bother to see the full price. I bought nothing.

I think the one that continues to blow me away is the cost of bagged snacks. I'm not much of a snacker, but my son is. He loves his Doritos, especially. Over $5 for one bag. And the bags have gotten smaller at that. For example, Lay's potato chips - the "party size" is now only 13 oz.
