Coffee, a banana and some finely crushed cashew nuts. Better than eating peanut butter out of the jar.
Fortunately, if one has the facility for chickens, chickens are fairly cheap to keep, easy to have, and give back. Mine eat almost all my kitchen scraps--I do grind the scraps in the food processor, and free range and eat chicken feed, and sunflowers. I toss extra rice, barley, and wild rice in the freezer so I don't just do one portion, but vary the grains every day. If you have a garden, the greens are easy <g>. Farm-fresh eggs take less time to cook than store-bought ones, for some reason. I usually poach 2 eggs in my microwave egg poacher for 45-50 seconds, so I get the greens and the grains ready first, when they are almost done, do the eggs. If I am pulling the grains out of the freezer, I can make breakfast, including the time to run out to the garden, in 10 minutes.CWS I am loving reading your breakfast posts as well as your chicken chronicles. I told DH last night and we are keen to try this out ourselves as I work from a home based office I believe we could work it in. I haven't really experimented with grains and we are really hoping to get some layer chooks soon (no money, then no chooks available) we both love eggs. Keep posting I am gathering many ideas.
A comforting double layer pancake with nutella and peanut butter and black coffee. The hangover took a beating that morning.
Probably not the healthiest breakfast.
Couple fried eggs, two slabs of fried liver mush, toast, butter, and a glass of whole milk.
Luckily, I live in a part of NC where cigarettes and fried breakfasts are still good for you.*
